Ashley Cammick, Teacher K2 - K3

I am Ashley Cammick. I grew up in Tampa, Florida USA, then moved to South Carolina after high school. My Parents still live there, so it is my home away from Japan. I have my Masters in education and Elementary teaching certificate from Anderson University in South Carolina. I moved to Japan in 2012 where I began teaching kindergarten. Kindergarten quickly became my passion and I am happy to continue at SSIS.

Andrew Clouther, Teacher K3-K4

I received my Bachelor’s degree in history and Master’s degree in Education. I have over 10 years of experience as an Italian chef, a journalist for 3 years, and as an Eikawa teacher for 3 years. I love cooking, hiking, and travelling to new places.

Ms. Maria-Mart Van Eden & Ms. Talisha Vernon - Teacher Grade 1-2

Juliette Zaiser, Teacher Grade 3-5

Juliette Zaiser comes to us after her most recent position teaching at an international school in Cairo, Egypt. Last year she taught 4th and 5th graders, and the year prior only 4th graders. This year, she is enjoying her class of young, enthusiastic and eager 3rd 4th and 5th graders. Her BA is in Theatre Arts from UCLA and already her SSIS students have performed poetry, song, improvisation and short plays. She is impressed with their creativity.

“Mrs. Juliette,” as she is known by her students has taught for just a few decades and has worked with ages nursery through adult. This is her third time living in Japan, the first as an exchange student at ICU (International Christian University), when she met her husband, and then again when their two children were born in Tokyo, and she danced in the parades at Tokyo, Disneyland.
The Zaisers have also lived and worked in Guam; Tbilisi, Georgia; and in the USA states of California, Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Connecticut; holding current certification in the last three states. She has a M.Ed. in Special Education, is an RDT (Registered Drama Therapist( and also was authorized as an LCAT (Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, in the state of New York).
Juliette is in Tokyo, with her husband John, a hotelier for many years. They love being back in Japan and spending summers in Nagano at Lake Nojiri. For relaxation, she enjoys swimming, reading, practicing piano and playing Scrabble. Her daughter’s 3-month old son, Atticus Rohan Rebeiro, met her when visited the UK this past Christmas. Her son’s wife and two teenagers reside in Oregon, USA, so her family is quite spread out.
Juliette is “over the moon” (primary students are learning idioms!) to be a part of the SSIS family.
